Rinse and REPEAT: Assessing transparency in database research and real world evidence

The REPEAT initiative, led by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, aims to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and validity in longitudinal healthcare database research. Utilizing the Aetion Evidence Platform, the program systematically evaluates and replicates published studies, addressing the challenge of transparency in database research. With a focus on improving decision-makers' ability to interpret and assess the validity of insights from databases, the initiative has already reviewed 112 studies, replicated 50, and is part of a larger FDA-sponsored study to validate real-world evidence against randomized controlled trials in drug development and regulatory approval.
